  • Purpose of role

Our Client Partner leads a world-class   client service capability across a portfolio of accounts. He/she is the   ultimate business expert for our clients, and the studio, building and   cultivating relationships, while enabling our teams to deliver the best work   imaginable. As the title suggests, the Client Partner is the wingman (or   woman!) to their clients, helping to ensure that together, we deliver   progressive, impactful and ambitious work. Ultimately, when the client is not   in the room, the client partner represents them in every way.

This role is responsible for the   recruitment, performance and retention of their team ensuring that this group   are effective and engaged.

Finally, the Client Partner also sits   as part of the leadership team in Shanghai, working to steer and shape the   future of our business. They represent both our clients and the client   service team in decisions made about the studio. Here, we get to design the   place we want to work and cultivate the type of work we want to do and Client   Partners play a key role in how we make this happen.

 

  • In a nutshell

The Client Partner role is a strategic   leader across a range of clients. As the ultimate client custodian the Client   Partner is responsible for successfully maintaining and growing a large   client portfolio by identifying and creating opportunities to add value to   clients business and to AKQA. The Client Partner is a trusted advisor and   partner at the highest level, a brand custodian and champion and entrepreneur   that drives results for all parties.
 
     

  • What success looks like

·           Effectively   balances client and AKQA demands for on-time and on-budget delivery.

·           Ensures   effective pricing strategy while maintaining overall client profitability   targets at all times.

·           Highlights   team operational issues in relation to overall client profitability.

·           Successfully   negotiates with client procurement team. Supports negotiations on rate cards   with clients as well as retainers and financial structure of an account.

·           Consistently   creates solid revenue forecasts, with accurate representation of committed   vs. upside/downside revenue.

·           Makes a positive contribution to the leadership   team and wider studio family, receiving positive feedback from team members.

·           Creates an environment of high performance   and high engagement across the client service team.

·           Contributes to the cultivation and   maintenance across the studio of a   fearless environment that encourages risk/bravery where it is ok to fail.

·           Successfully   grows long-term, trusted relationships with senior level clients,   consistently demonstrating an ability to identify new business opportunities.  

   

  • Responsibilities

 

·           Is a key designer and   leader of the strategic account planning process.

·           Leads and manages their   client service team, providing frequent feedback and acknowledgement as well   as conducting regular performance reviews.

·           Ensures client satisfaction   as measured by positive client feedback and a positive NPS across all   accounts.

·           Plays a key role in new business   activity.

·           Develops and maintains a deep knowledge of clients’ business and   the category/competition.

 

  •     Qualifications and experience

 

·           10+ years’ experience in   client service or related discipline.

·           Proven experience in digital, technology, design   or comparable organisation.

·           Formal qualifications in Management, Business or a   related field advantageous.

·           Bilingual   proficiency (English and Mandarin) preferred.

·           Local   insight, understanding and appreciation a must.

·           Able   to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.

·           Exceptional written and   verbal communication skills. Articulate and confident presenter.

·           Demonstrated capability   leading complex conversations.

·           Extensive team management and leadership   experience.
