FUNCTION

The Account Manager coordinates the day-to-day activities of the Shanghai-based Colenso studio on behalf of clients. This role supports creative and strategic work developed in partnership with Colenso Auckland and contributes to building the future of one of the world’s most recognised sports brands across the Asia‑Pacific region.

Working alongside a Shanghai-based creative, strategy and account team, you will help ensure work is delivered on time, on budget, and to the highest creative and cultural standards. You will play a key role in identifying and enabling opportunities for culturally resonant work across APAC.

CONTACTS

Internal:

• Reports to the Senior Account Director, Shanghai.

• Works closely with Strategy (including the CSO), Creative, and Production teams across Shanghai and New Zealand.

External:

• Primary client contact with brand and product leads.

• Regular interaction with Heads of Marketing, Creative and Strategy across client and media organisations.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

1) Internal Administration

• Maintain control over internal workflow including contact reports, WIPs, estimates, budget tracking and job cost reports.

• Ensure alignment between Shanghai and Auckland teams, facilitating smooth communication and collaboration.

 2) Preparation of Briefs

• Collaborate with the Senior Account Director and Strategy Director to prepare powerful creative briefs informed by client needs, cultural insight and APAC market dynamics

3) The Work

• Champion creativity and cultural relevance in all outputs.

• Influence the creative response to client challenges.

• Translate client needs into creative deliverables aligned with current regional social narratives.

• Help clients succeed in ways better than they imagined.

4) Client & Category knowledge

• Develop deep knowledge of the client’s category, cultural landscape and competitive environment across Asia‑Pacific.

• Identify cultural and creative opportunities to strengthen client brands in meaningful, memorable ways.

DEVELOPMENT

While based in Shanghai, you will be directly supported by the Colenso team in Auckland.   You will also be fully integrated into the Colenso account management community, providing opportunities to contribute to world‑class work beyond the Shanghai studio.
