Strategic Intention

Ensures the smooth production of campaigns – from briefing designers and copywriters, to managing budgets and possibly a team of executives. However, as an Account Director is primarily responsible for the management of relationships with clients. As the senior point of contact for an agency’s customers, the Account Director also co-ordinates the resources needed to service projects, builds strategic operational plans and balances the expectations of clients with the execution of creative work.

 SCOPE AND IMPACT OF JOB

 Be expected to plan campaigns, and successfully develop business accounts creatively and financially, while playing a positive role in agency’s new business programs.

 

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE

 

Education and Experience: 

 

  • Bachelor degree

  • Fluent English speaking and writing skills

  • Minimum 6 years of advertising or marketing experience.

  • 2 years of experience in leading account team at agency

 

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

 

  • Significant experience in professional client relationship management

  • Experience in advertising and/or marketing

  • A persuasive and confident approach to creative projects

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

  • Effective team management capabilities

  • A keen attention to detail and budgetary restraints

  • Full awareness of creative processes and techniques – including digital platforms

  • Good presentation skills

  • Lead and inspire team, clients, and other external partners

  • Be commercially and creatively minded

  • Negotiate effectively

  • Have the confidence to take charge when necessary

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

1.       Effectively leads and develops an account team/s.

2.       Builds key client relationships that deliver to a client’s perceived needs.

3.       Responds to revenue/cost variations to deliver forecast profit.

4.       Efficiently leads an account team/s towards high performance objectives. Develops business relationships that enable a reframing of needs in the broader context of the business. Identifies opportunities within existing business relationships to add additional profitable services.

5.       Has managed multi-disciplined campaigns, largely self-directed, to the complete satisfaction of clients.

6.       At an account level, has inspired the development of, and executed, creative ideas

7.       Challenging and describing the clients’ business objectives in terms of their competitive environment.

8.       Encouraging working relationships that promote a collaborative approach to work across the business, with clients and suppliers.

9.       Challenging clients’ perceived needs to enable a level of service delivery beyond their expectations.

10.    Setting expectations on the quality of creative ideas and work within brand guidelines.

11.    Promoting, and internally rewarding, multi-disciplinary briefs.

12.    Promoting, and internally rewarding, the development of integrated solutions.

13.    Maximizing the benefit of the contractual obligations. Ensuring the account team/s understand the conditions of contract/s.

14.    Identifying opportunities to up-sell services not included in the scope of work.

15.    Ensuring that revenue and direct cost forecasts are on-budget.

16.    Managing the preparation of pitch materials and budgets in total.
